Vases - What determines the Size of a Vase?

Some of the Fenton and Northwood vase sizes can be real confusing also. Is it a funeral vase or an over stretched "mid-sized" vase? I understand that the size of the base is really the determining factor.

And the answer - yes, it is the diameter of the base that determines the category of the vase. Funerals usually have base diameters of approx. 5 1/4 inches (Imperial Funerals are slightly smaller). Mid size vases range from 3 3/4 to 4 3/4 inches.
